How Silent The Night Poem by Herbert Dry

How Silent The Night

Go not deeper into the silence of your night a night
so long so still
I listen no soft whispers my
ears to fill

How silent the night your lips move
no sound to hear
The chilling hand of death lingering slowly
drawing near

Go not deeper into the silence of your
night
You are the reason I live the reason my
days so bright

How silent the night hand holding
hand
Upon each hand a golden wedding
band

How silent the night a life prepares to
take flight
Falling tears turn silver reflecting
a soft light
Go now my cherished love into the silence
of your night

How silent the night the last breath
now gone
How silent the night a love so
silent so strong
