HOW TO SEDUCE OUR WOMAN Poem by Tomas Lieske

HOW TO SEDUCE OUR WOMAN

Rating: 3.5

A promise. That her never uttered wish
may be fulfilled for an entire night. Promise
that while making love she'll reach
the colours inside. Promise that afterwards
she'll speak the languages and count the stars,
will move the horizon and bend round time.

To begin with you'll have to surprise her.
You lay your hand exactly on the spot
she wants to be in touch; you'll guess
the numbers in her life she wants to hide;
you've read every adventure
she's ever had; her fruit you can identify
from quite a distance by its odour;
you can keep your balance, walk across
the water, flow into another's body.

You will have to be equal to us,
adopt the trusted shape we take.
Still, without the casually hidden split
in the upholstery, without the mechanism
implanted to protect our heart, without
the visible and badly fitting seam
which shows us all the ear was glued back on,
equipped with a sound distorter, or
is still too creaky, filled with yellow tears
from a polish tin. And with the courage
of a chamois, with the smell of summery fields.
