asked how you felt,
weary eyed
you replied,
you felt,
like a fallen twig,
broken off from its,
source.
only for you to land,
into a rushing
gushing river,
swept swiftly away,
unable to fight,
the carrying cruel,
unforgiving current,
you can see the
slippery banks,
of freedom,
but have no chance,
of reaching them,

to the river,
and you have no
idea where your journey
will end,
your medicated,
restrained mind,
seeping through,
to your hollow eyes,
holding back,
chemical tears,
reflecting upon,
those fine family years.
i only wish i had a rope,
to haul you in from
the river,
and together we could sit,
watching
every other lost soul,
and hold yours,
in the warmth of trust,
