Hurt And Haggard - Forgiveness Is For Giving Poem by Adegbenro Adekunle

Hurt And Haggard - Forgiveness Is For Giving

Hurt
That's my biggest 'but'
It grinds into my soft soul
With bitterness as its only gruffy goal

The brutal burning
The fatal flaming
The continuous feeling of disregard for my gentility
The growing desire to dish out hostility

It tears me apart
Like a livid lion devouring its powerless prey
It breaks into my hollow heart
Like dangerous darts piercing a bruised board

The depth of the pain
The loss of the gain
The end of the rain
All are deeper than the cut from a cain

Unforgiveness
A fervent child of hurt
Brokenness
A stubborn child with gut

Unforgiveness has a gruesome glove
Punching and stamping harder than the furious feet of an enraged elephant
But with forgiveness, we are truly triumphant
With glory from the greatest gift of love

Forgiveness is for giving
And not for keeping
Although most people are not deserving
Unforgiveness' claw is the flaw we all need to keep fighting
