Hurt My Strength Poem by Stacey Pinto

He walked right up to me
saw me bleeding from a distance
He gave that sympathizing smile
put his hand forward
and asked me to come along
I wondered why he was doing it
his legs were weak
anyone could tell
and yet all he wanted was
for me to stand on my own
his eyes told me of his bare heart
they helped me do it all
i stood in the end for him
drawing strength from his love
i walked on, spoke of never leaving
but as i walked along
things began to close in
everything else pulled me down
now i'm fallen again
leaving him weaker than ever
this time there's a difference
he's not coming back
He gave me strength
but all i've left him with is
tears and more pain
