Hymn To Freedom Poem by Al J. Cuesta

Hymn To Freedom

Rating: 5.0

Although the chains around my ankles have left a mark

Although the cuffs were heavy and made our nights dark

I sing today alone to you

Remembering the days I sang alone for me

And I feel happy to be free

Finally! I can rejoice

Finally! You hear my voice

Finally! I can tell you freely how I feel

Finally! I can love without fear

Like a rainbow after a poignant rain

Like a whisper after a brooding storm

Like the sugar cube melting in my tea

Like a newborn babys first time to see

Like the waves that born from tiny ripples rage throughout the sea

Like true blue oceans

Like true blue days

Like love

Unhindered

I am free

Free to be happy

Free to be sad

Free to be mad

Free to be glad

Free to feel

And feeling free

I can decide to share

I can decide to keep it all to me

I can decide

We can decide, on our own

The place we chose to call our home

To cut in the grass a garden close to our hearts

To plant a seed of love and grow a tree of glass

Free, Free at last

Free, Free and fast

Searching for the deepest way to say:

This is how every living being should spend their days

Although the chains around my ankles have left a mark
Although the cuffs were heavy and made our nights dark
I sing today alone to you
Remembering the days I sang alone for me
And I feel happy to be free the happy sense of freedom and the pain of the heavy joke. tony
