Hypocrisy Poem by Tor Magnor Solvang

Hypocrisy

They wore fine clothes, spoke with a learned sound,
Called others wild, on foreign ground.
They saw the people, with simple ways,
And labelled them 'savages, ' in their gaze.

But with their tools, so sharp and bright,
They brought great darkness, stole the light.
They took the food, the cloth, the hide,
The very life, they pushed aside.

Like children playing, in a cruel game,
They ended lives, whispered no shame.
Millions fell, their world undone,
By those who claimed the victory won.

And still today, we hold our heads,
Remember "our heroes", the blood they shed.
We speak of glory, of might and fame,
Forgetting the sorrow, the burning shame.
