Hypocrite Poem by Michael J Williams

Hypocrite

You think me some sort of hypocrite
This much I'm sure is true
Your speech is milk and honey
Unlike the babel that I spew
Your moral condemnation
Of the life I choose to live
Leaves little room for charity
In your sainted heart to give
Your vast, superior intellect
Makes me look the fool
I refuse response to clever barbs from you
So… I merely stand and drool
Perhaps I am some sort of hypocrite
I believe this much is true
But I'd rather be my kind of hypocrite
And not a hypocrite like You!

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
We all like to critisize everybody else, but we all need to to a look at ourselves through some one else's eyes... so we can understand how others see us. Maybe we're not any better than the people we despise
