I Poem by Prarthana Ranjit

I

So he says he is in love with me, this guy,
Who owns a broken heart almost as foolish as I.
I said he does not like me, and I gave him all the reasons why.
He said, “Those are the reasons you hate yourself for, not I.”

Like a fairy tale prince he said he won’t give up till we die,
& it could be such a cute story, cute enough to make you cry.
So if it’s almost a fairytale; you ask “what kind of foolish girl will deny? ”
Well, the answer is the kind who is as foolish as I.

He said he could take away the pain, he said he could make me fly.
I said I have my feet plastered to this ground, without this pain I won’t get by
He looked at me, almost pity in his eyes as he mouthed his final good bye
But before he left he wanted to know if he was as damaged as I?

I said, no you at least had the courage to try,
When you failed, you attempted a good bye;
While I, I have been living a lie,
cuz to let it out I m too shy.
dear fren, you are better than I;
far better than I.
