I, Abacist Poem by Francie Lynch

I, Abacist

Beads are moving
On the family abacus.
Five to the right.
One to the left.
Five welcome concerns.
Five welcome mourners.
No hand controls or limits
The ones shifting
Along thinning guide wires.
Enter. Hello. Right.
Exit. Good-bye. Left.
