I Am A Child Poem by Sheena Blackhall

I Am A Child

I am a Child
I am a child
All I can do is yield
Do not allow me to suffer
I am a child. Be my shield

I am a child.
Do not beat me, or starve me
Protect me from evils, concealed

I am a child
Each bruise has a memory
Long after you think it has healed

I am a child, but briefly
Scatter flowers and doves
On my innocent field
