I Am A Simple Student Of Truth Poem by Mohammad Younus

I Am A Simple Student Of Truth

Friends, do not confine me to a box shaped by sectarian lenses.
I am neither Sunni, Shi'a, Salafi, nor Sufi. I do not align with any label or faction. The Qur'an came to liberate humanity from the self-imposed limitations of such divisions, yet today, many Muslims imprison themselves within restrictive boundaries in the name of Islam. I am simply a seeker—a son of man submitting to God's guidance as revealed in the Qur'an.

My belief is rooted in universal principles: peace, justice, love, and unity—values that transcend divisions and uphold the sanctity of humanity. While I acknowledge my roots in Islam, my spirit remains free to embrace the beauty and wisdom of all cultures and traditions, as long as they align with Qur'anic principles and sound reasoning. I consider myself a free thinker, guided by the primary source and open to the enlightened interpretations it inspires.

I reject sectarian and divisive interpretations of Islam—fabrications driven by illusions of power and material gain. These pursuits distort the truth, veiling its essence and turning sacred teachings into tools for control.

Such factions strip Ummah of its dignity, reducing its adherents to mere commodities for exploitation. Their actions foster discord and deepen suffering, all while masquerading as noble endeavors. I refuse to participate in these sectarian ideologies, at cross with each other. My path does not align with those who issue takfir (excommunication) , as if they have been given license by God to judge others. My loyalty is to peace, dignity, and the pursuit of true kknowledge and wisdom.

I do not believe the Qur'an requires custodianship by any elite class. While I respect sincere scholarship, truth and falsehood are self-evident without monopolization. An informed opinion arises not from formal titles but from the willingness to explore, question, and engage with diverse perspectives. Credibility stems from openness to testing one's beliefs and adapting to new insights, not from rigid adherence to dogma.

My thoughts and choices are shaped by a sincere pursuit of truth, guided solely by the Qur'an and untainted by institutional or ideological agendas. I seek no titles, accolades, or recognition. I am, at my core, a humble student—committed to uncovering and living by the truth illuminated by divine intelligence that helps me discriminate between truth and falsehood, and thus guide me on the path of truth.
