I Am Black Poem by Ayoitunu Gbadebo

I Am Black

I am black
But my heart is pure
Judge me not by my skin color
Don't treat me like an outcast
When I'm not it my motherland
Don't make me sit to ask myself
Does being black have to be bad

I am black
My skin is an evidence of melanin
I'm pretty from front to back
Beauty I do not lack
Africa is my motherland
But why the discrimination? I still don't understand
White or black let's have each other's hand
