I Am But Not Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

I Am But Not

I am but not

Neither am I John nor Milton
-but was part to overthrow of Charles
-The First

End came with restoration of Charles,
-The Second

He threw me in the tower of
-not London but Tehran
-The Palace

And though not blind in eyes
-nor in Guantanamo
-wanted to express
-myself, plain

Yet could not because
-inmates spoke languages
-of thieves, of murderers

So buried are great poems formed in
-Guantanamo
-regardless of the language
-Arabic, Farsi, Pashto to English
