I Am I Poem by Stephanie T Castillo

I Am I

My shade of Brown defines
only my glow,
my lines of age shine
from the full moon never dull.
From my ancestors born
on cleansed soil raised
with purity I rise above all turmoil.
I am I
my head hung to no defeat,
my blood bleeds a
humble CHICANA an
overflow of dignity.
Songs of my elders wise.
Their music in speech, í dance to a learned language fluent..
Teachings of signals sent
to our higher for our
inner beliefs of surety and clarity
with no error.
I am identified by my stance,
confidence, and beauty.
My face tells my story,
strong features that
express what lies within me,
my born nudity only dressed with feathers that bless my
path for my eyes to see.
footprints and clues left for you to follow, close your eyes,
your heart will lead
you to the light of the
knowledgeable.
Seek with your
eagle eye,demanded attention,
for lessons to equipped
you ready to write
your own history.
