I Am My Book Poem by Randy McClave

I Am My Book

I will tell my grandchildren of the great things I have done
Both underneath the moon and also the sun,
And also about the wonderful places that I have been
And I will tell them of all my adventures with a joyous heart and grin.
I will tell them also about the donations that I have made
To the charities and to the church where I worship and prayed,
My life to them will always be a proud and an opened book
Where anytime I hope for them to please open it and take a look.
Shooting a gun of course will not ever be on that list
Nor at a immigrant will I be remembered for shaking a hateful fist,
Never being a racist or a bigot will I ever be known or heard
Because proudly to say, that has never happened or occurred.
Giving money to Megachurches or to politicians will not be known
Or giving money to the wealthy you won't hear the poor moan,
Or will I be remembered for hating someone of a different gender
I treated and seen all with happiness and splendor.
Never will I be known for cheering on a wannabe dictator
Nor cheering on a draft dodger or even a uncaring traitor,
Never will I be seen or heard at being at an insurrection
Hoping or supporting the overthrow of my country after an election.
Nor in my book will it say that I hated or didn't help the poor
Or how they should had walked in my shoes when I wanted more,
Or me wishing or hoping anyone to suffer financially as I once did
I never did or believed that, and may God forbid.
In my book I would be happy for my grandchildren to read
Hopefully in their soul and mind I would had planted a mighty seed,
I hope them to read my book throughly to the very end
Sometimes with sweat and blood and love my words were penned.
And maybe one day they would place my book on their own bookshelf
So, it can be opened and then read by their children or someone else,
Then one day while I am being judge before being sent to Heaven or Hell
God, will first had read my book as well.
