I Am Not That Man Poem by Santos Taíno Santiago

I Am Not That Man

I am not him!

I am not a passing song that you once heard, whos
melody you tried to forget

I am not that excuse he used when he abused of the love that you gave freely

I am only that man that wants to get to know the beauty his eyes perceive
cause at this moment I may be naive of all those men that have come before me

And my only hope may be that I restore your lost confidence

Please forgive my arrogance but your worth every try

I am not that man that tried to spread your legs prematurely

I only want to spread your smile from ear to ear and have a conversation while I have you here

Don't confuse me with that man!

No! Please don't confuse me with that man

Don't confuse me with the man you spent half your lifetime loving and the other half trying to forget

The one that forged words into blades and scarred you so deeply you no longer recognize your beauty

Him!

That man!

The one that made you feel ugly and unworthy
and made you believe that you were not enough when you were all

When you have everything!

When you gave your all and you was at his beck and call, stood by his side at every situation,
cooked his meals, cleaned his home and raised his children

You made him king of his castle but he never recognized your Queenship

That man!

Yes! That man

The one that broke your heart and had you in years of unneeded hardship

That is not me!

I am the one that believes you are deserving

I am that man that wants to create memories that are worth remembering,
rendering love without conditions

Loving you as a good Woman deserves to be loved

No!

I am not him!

I am not a passing song that you once heard, whos
melody you tried to forget

Know,
I am not that man!
