When your mother is a stranger and your brother is gone
your life has changed and envelopes no one
You are still here

You wonder why it has come to this
but you seek
comfort in silence and find solace in bliss
You want to scream
because no one can hear
They are blind to the noise
and silenced by fear
but you are still here

you have become a mere shadow of yourself
beaten down, crying alone
no one hears the words, noise in the background
oblivious to the the hollow groan
but you are still here

present in the beauty and in the pain
longing for that which will
never come again
anger is easier than sorrow
a heart of steel
gets me through tomorrow
SO I am still here

If things were different
and evil men gone
if they listened to their heart
shutting out everyone
If only, if only,
If I had only one prayer
you would open your eyes
you would see me

I am still here
