I Beg Your Pardon Poem by Sujoy Bhattacharya

I Beg Your Pardon

I have commuted an unpardonable crime.
I remember that day to stimulate my
lachrymal gland for shedding tears of repentance.
It was a new moon night.
Wearing the murky veil of obscurity
the nocturnal sky was stirring a well of gloom!
I was sitting on the cemented steps of our village pond.
Looking deep into the womb of the still pond
I was enjoying the mystical observation.
Wind was blowing gently.
The dancing trees on the bank of the pond
was depicting tapestry on the surface of the pond.
A flippant frog jumped into the pond breaking the stillness of the night meditating over the desire to coexist with the day.
Suddenly I felt something as soft as mom' s affection
under my naked feet.
I pressed my cruel feet hard to smash the creature.
It was a pregnant pest whom I pestled under my feet.
I cursed myself for killing a carrying mother.
The mute nature around me rebuked silently for my sinful act sordid!
