I Came Along Poem by Randy McClave

I Came Along

She wanted a good man
So, I came along,
Away from her I never ran
Her heart she said was filled with song.
We quickly became a couple
Our joined hands formed a circle,
We protected each other from trouble
We cleared every hurdle.
Inside that circle was just her and I
No one else was ever allowed in,
No other gal or other guy
That's where our life as one did begin.
Then she started talking to her friends
And then also to her mother,
On how the heart never mends
When there once was another.
Our circle was then broken
When she allowed her past inside,
To memories she had once again spoken
And from me she did run and hide.
I treated her joyfully and good
Never did I raise anger or hate or a fist
I treated her the way true love should
Then she left me for a narcissist.
