I Came To See You Poem by Grace Burke

I Came To See You

I came to see you, the sky was all grey
I longed to be with you or for you to here stay
But your journey was over, I must now go alone
You're now free of pain, you now have gone home.

The hole that you left in my now lonely heart
Is hallow and empty when you did depart
I know it will mend but a piece will be gone
Till I'm home in your arms where I know I belong.

I must travel on, on this road thats called life
Alone and foresaken, my life filled with strife
I feel the light rain as it gently falls down
As it washes my tears away to the ground.

I loved you in life and I still love you dear
The long lonely nights are now what I fear
With you by my side I could conquer all ills
Climb every mountain,climb every hill.

I stand by your graveside and let the tears flow
The light in my life does no longer glow
I came here to see you, the place where you rest
You'll always be with me, you were always the best.
