covet the footprints you left in my soul
fold your love notes in my dearest books
cherish pictures of our days spent in the sun
and wash the coffee cups left out in the rain

but I will not stay
just to keep the forever in amber
I can love you without being with you
I can love you without liking you
but I cannot stay

I can love you with the depths of the ocean
from afar
I can wish you happiness and love and warm days
pray for your health,
that you are warm and fed
both of body and soul

none of that requires my presence
