I Can't Sing Poem by Randy McClave

I Can't Sing

I can't sing as many have said
So, I write poetry instead,
To sing others have said, I have not the voice
So, inciting is now my choice.
I wish truly that I could carry a note
From all the words that I have wrote,
I can't express my feelings in song by singing
When love and hope I wish to be bringing.
When with inspiration I am feeling
And when with words I want to be healing,
In a form of a poem I will then write
But, in the form of a song I won't sing to recite.
While I'm in the shower
My voice I once believed had the greatest power,
As if I were there singing on stage
I know that I would certainly be the rage.
Then the people who were living next door
They complained constantly about the roar,
They ask or wanna know why am I crying
Or am I suffering or maybe even dying.
I wish that I could carry a note
From words that I have wrote,
And then I could close my eyes to listen
My soul I know would then surely glisten.
