I Come Alive Poem by Edwina Reizer

I Come Alive

I come alive in the evening time
with every living fiber I feel.
I wonder at this quickening
that allows me the right to steal
a few seconds, minutes and hours
to write to my heart's content.
I wait for this time apprehensively
and know that it was meant
to hear the voice that speaks to me
in rounded tones so pure.
I hear them as I now expect
and know that they will cure
my melancholy from the day
that awaits me once again
when I must return to the repetitiveness
of man's inhumanity to man.
