I Deserve To Be Heard Poem by Emmanuel Joseph Olumakiss

I Deserve To Be Heard

Rating: 5.0

I deserved to be heard
Despite the gravity of my offence
I am entitled to a fair hearing
Do not trample on my right
My voice I beg you adhere
Why suddenly bypass?
That which need to be done
The good which you deserve
Another also needs to enjoy
It is not a question of being rich
Neither being among the city owners
When will you grant to pass my wish?
And stop subjecting me to sufferings
Days I've toiled to no avail
Nights I've begged to be spared alive
How come my happiness you've decide to expel
When both dumb and the cripple excel
I deserved to be heard
To tell my stories myself
To express publicly my mind
To speak to the hearing of the judge
Severally I've declared my innocence
My hand I've made clean
Yet they taunt me before the crowd
My name they lowered to the mud
For the things I've known not.
