I Do Love Life And I'D Like To Live Forever Poem by Francis Duggan

I Do Love Life And I'D Like To Live Forever

I do love life and I'd like to live forever this World my Heaven of that why should I lie
But I am mortal like all other mortals and the time will come when I too have to die
I'd love to keep on penning rhymes forever but for me I know there will be a last rhyme
I feel happy to survive another Season since I feel that I am running out of time
'Tis the fear of death we fear though death is natural and for all of us there is a final Fall
The Reaper of lives we are at his mercy eventually he calls time on us all
At least he does treat everybody as equal he claims the lives of the pauper and the billionaire
He is the one who cannot be bribed with money one might say that his type are very rare
I do fear death I'd love to live forever and life is great that's how it seems to me
And I'd like to travel all around the World so many Countries I would love to see
But the passing of the Seasons on my body telling my fastest pace to say the least is slow
On looking back my prime years went so quickly I tell you here what you already know,
I do love life and I'd love to live forever but on that the Reaper has the final say
And I will die like every other mortal for me there will be a last night and day.
