I Do Not Know How I Come Back Each Day Poem by Shalom Freedman

I Do Not Know How I Come Back Each Day

I do not know how I come back each day
After so many despairing thoughts
So much hopelessness
I do not know how the meaningless goes away
But every day somehow
Something in myself
And something I see and do
Or someone I meet and speak to
Bring me back to faith in life
And I want to live
And I believe it will be alright-

And I know I am a fool
And I know I will die
But each day I come alive again
And thank God
So far
I am still able to.
