I Don't Own A Gun Poem by Randy McClave

I Don't Own A Gun

I am glad that I don't need a gun
Either for my protection, or for fun,
Am glad that I'm not afraid to go outside
Without a weapon strapped at my side.
I would hate to enter into any form of dispute
Where the answer would be a gun to shoot,
I would also hate to take any form of life
Whether it be in fun, pain, guilt or strife.
There is no one that I am afraid to meet
No person that I'm afraid to greet,
No one should ever look or think of me in peril
Because they'll see me, and never a gun's barrel.
Sad to think that when I now pray
Another human life by a gun was taken away,
Excuses and reasoning could be given to why
But, for someone else's judgement or hate a human did die.
Those who live by the sword will die by the sword is true
If you carry a gun you know what you want to really do,
Whether in excitement, or pleasure or even for a thrill
You carry a gun, because you want to kill.
Give out all the excuses that you want to give
There is someone that you just don't want to live,
Or maybe you want or need someone to impress
Then your sins to God you can then confess.
I am so glad that my soul and my heart is empowered
I am also glad that I am no coward,
God has given me two hands to protect and build
And also the same two hands to pray and yield.
Who knows but maybe the victims will meet their killers at heaven's gate
Then God will then judge them for their eternal fate,
I am so glad that I don't need a rifle a gun or a rod
Am glad that all that I need, is my faith and my trust in God.
