I don't understand why
Love is undefined
Undignified
Unsimplified
Its formula
Unratified

I don't understand why
Friends leave
Frenemies stay
Friendship is perceived
As long lasting anyway
And when one grieves
Every sign that comes afterward
Is grey

I don't understand why
They say blood is thicker than water
Or why they say a son
Is better than a daughter
Or why they sanction murder in war
But otherwise call it manslaughter?

I don't understand why
Everyone let the tyrants loose
To do what they will
And kill as they choose
Does anyone understand
That in the End they lose?

I don't understand why
Dark skinned folk cross borders
To be treated as less than human
Even if they carry all their sorrows
But lavish life makes of other people
The owners of tomorrows?

I don't understand why
Anyone would keep the key to what's to come
And think no future order
Will shift the time for some
Nor understand they can control the parts
But never control the sum?

I don't understand why
The truth won't set us free anymore
By order of the bank or president (same)
We become robotic products of reality's galore
I don't understand why morals won't reign
But rather reinvented in some app store
