I Dreamed Of Walking Poem by Shalom Freedman

I Dreamed Of Walking

I DREAMED OF WALKING

I dreamed of walking
Of seeing light and beauty
Wherever I walked
Of having thoughts
And contemplations
Wordsworth-like
I dreamed of seeing nature
As consolation and hope
And new skies opening everywhere

Instead head down to study the ground
I would not like to fall on-
I plod on to my various destinations
Hoping that the song inside me
Can somehow slightly compensate for
The pleasure and beauty given by the eyes
I once had in my walking in better days.
