I Fell Poem by Mpho Nkadimeng

I Fell

I fell for a silhouette
A thought of contempt that dazzled Through the maturity of night skies
Its shades of darkness sparkled
Blending reasons to live Like undiscovered science in a belief
Its beauty was margined Like petals of a black rose
Against hues of its leaves refracted within raindrops
Like lenses framing time to harbour memories
I watched it as it glides and twirls on the wall
Leaping from one side to the other unrestricted
So as to resemble clouds staged upon the sky
City lights beamed over it tremendously
Giving it a stage on building walls like it owned the city
Every hoot and every shout was an applause to this solo performance
I fell for a silhouette
A hue of perfection reflected on the wall to stair my imagination
With simplicity of abstraction and toiled my hopes to a dream
Feeding my attention to its presence
It devoured my thoughts as it coursed to its owner
And gave darkness presence
Its existence was covered by a black skin with a character of beauty
And damn I fell to a queen
Her hair was a crown forged from wisdom
And her entire existence was the meaning of life
I fell to a point I could see under her feet, noticing her foot prints
Covered with mud and blisters aching from the path that sculptured her
I could see her scars and bruises shaped like a map of life on her skin
I admired the truth she is and reality she brings
And I fell not only to a queen but for a lovely human being.
I
