I Got Fears Too... - Poem by Eigbe Solomon
I saw a man
With a face so calm
His words soft and sweet
Wears a smile as often as his eyeglass
He seems to have sworn a covenant with peace
And trouble has promised never to see his eyes
Here I am, a man with worries and uncertainties
But when I asked for his secret
He answered and said ‘I got fears too'
I met a lady
So beautiful and graceful
Her shadow reflecting happiness
She got all attention she needed from anyone
And time seems waiting for her
For she hurry not and never get anxious
Here I am, a man with sorrows and woes
But when I inquired for her secret
She replied and said ‘I got fears too'
I knew a child
Naked and hungry
Rejected by all, cared for by none
‘Forsaken', I calls him
Having neither friend nor foe
I wept for his life and his unspent days
Here I am, better off in every way
But when I told him how sorry I was
He said ‘I got no fears'
