I Have A Tattoo Poem by Randy McClave

I Have A Tattoo

She looked at me
With both excitement and glee,
As with a woman with a surprise
I saw the enthusiasm in her eyes.
I saw the beauty of her skin
And she proclaimed to me there was no sin,
Then she spoke with a proudness of the view
I have a tattoo, do you.

She then showed me its beauty
As if it was her duty,
And she said she did not even once cry
When they placed it on her thigh.
She showed me where it was
It was a heart meaning and showing of love,
It showed the lookers her love so true
I have a tattoo, do you.

She said she was going to get another
In memory of her mother,
It would be placed on her arm
As though as a lucky charm.
She told me of the colors she wanted
And for it she wouldn't be undaunted,
And she'll probably have more than two
I have a tattoo, do you.

She asked me my very thought
And if a tattoo have I ever got,
As she was showing off her inking
I then began thinking.
She was proud of the tattoo that she now had
It made her emotionally glad,
Then she again said, what I already knew
I have a tattoo, do you.

She then began bragging
Almost like a nagging,
How she had something that was painful she declared
And because of that, was I sacred.
Or was it because I would be ashamed
Maybe I'm a holy roller with a smile she exclaimed,
Then she again said without a thought or a clue
I have a tattoo, do you.

I took off my shirt
I showed her the scars and burns which still hurt,
Then I showed her where once was the stitches
Which still itches.
I wished those scars and burns were not there
That is my constant prayer,
Then I said the sentence to her which was due
I have a tattoo, do you.
