I Have Never Envied Those Poem by Francis Duggan

I Have Never Envied Those

I have never envied those of wealth and fame
And praise and criticism I treat as the same
I do not have life achievements of for to brag
Though for a fair go for all people I do wave the flag
For to comment on poems of poets I am not qualified
Their idea of good and bad I leave to others to decide
I am just one of those who has penned reams of rhyme
Without the rewards of pay over decades of time
Though I do not refer to myself as a poet
Nor am i one worthy of any literary note
I have been penning rhyme since nineteen seventy three
And it was my love of rhyme made a rhymer of me
That I enjoy penning rhyme on my behalf not a lie
And I hope to be doing it until the day I do die.
