I Just Enjoy Writing Rhyme Poem by Francis Duggan

I am one who has written many pages of rhyme
Without the reward of pay over decades of time
And though not one of those to the literary fore
It is something I enjoy doing and little else more
Rhyme is a thing that anybody can write
And easy to remember and read and recite
But most twenty first century critics dismiss a rhymer as a non poet
As one who is unworthy ofliterary note
It was my love of rhyme made a rhymer of me
I penned my first rhymes in nineteen seventy three
This seems long ago the babies back then
Are now in their forties middle aged women and men
I just enjoy writing rhyme of this I won't lie
And I hope to be doing it until the day I do die.
