I Left An Incredible World Poem by Jeff Fleischer

I left an incredible world to fight this war.
Left behind my love, now I have scars.
Some are emotional and some are physical.
I'm often hopeful, but sometime I'm cynical.
My life has been put on hold.
All of us have a story that needs to be told.
From those who give the orders
To those who patrol the borders.
As I clutch my gun to my chest when I sleep at night,
I pray for a future that is bright.
Devoid of violence and killing,
Without any more blood spilling.
I will have returned to the love I'd left behind.
Together we will work toward achieving
Our peace of mind.
