I Let Go Of Words Poem by moon batchelder

I Let Go Of Words

i let go of words. and then...
began to understand
languages of birds,
simple symphonies of wind.

fragrances of flowers
fully sentences became.
buzzings of the bees
whole dissertations seemed to frame.

tacit paragraphs
rehearsed by passing butterfly,
revelations were
of verses whispered in the sky.

stars and planets chimed
like bells; each orbit wrought through space,
harmonics ringing,
rhymes composed in elemental grace!

the rhythms seasons dance
i heard; as plain as any drum.
songs of sun and moon;
i knew both tune and lyrics from.

through what force or spell
so ever, finally, i hear.
tho not deaf before,
still never voices quite so clear.

yet no purpose served
in vain attempts to answer why.
suffice to say,
i left off words;
and cured my deafness by.
