Lady Of The Lake... Poem by moon batchelder

Lady Of The Lake...

Rating: 5.0

lady of the lake am i,
a watcher in the wood;
a restless spirit glowering,
depending on the mood;
a dragon soaring through the sky,
hunted and misunderstood;
reclusive goddess dowering
too timid to intrude.

all this and mystery i am
a tryst beneath the moon;
a demon or epiphany
of deity - unknown;
ecstatic wish-fulfilling gem,
blessing and excessive boon;
a seeress bearing infamy
for destinies forewarned.

i am of darkness, - of the womb,
a ray of perfect light;
amnesiac remembering,
like embers into fire.
with wisdom from beyond the tomb
a gift i bring, as if my right;
all this - my might - surrendering
your humble muse am i.

Here are the lines that make the heart just sigh: 'i am of darkness, - of the womb, a ray of perfect light; amnesiac remembering, like embers into fire.'

'all this and mystery i am a tryst beneath the moon; a demon or epiphany of deity - unknown; ' I would expect to find this engraved on some ancient doorway in Pompeii or on someone's over grown tomb. Instead it's today, and it's surrounded by other words equally enchanting.
