I Live For You Poem by Isadora Quagmire

I Live For You

What is one's life if there is no love?
And what is love if it is not true?
True love can only come from God above,
And by His love in me—I live for you!
What love can compare to yours,
In this mortal and failing land?
Your devotion throws wide my heart's doors,
And fills me with the strength to stand.
In stores my love for you is treasured up,
Ever more than full,
Your love in return overflows my cup,
And cwtches my soul.
Like the shadow that chases you in the evening,
Or the wind that loves the seashore,
I shall always be there for you un-leaving,
For you I do adore.
And when the day of life is coming to its last,
And when trials and sorrows like clouds bring the night,
I will wrap you with my arms until it is passed,
And I will live to give you light.

~ for my dearest and wonderous family, I love you so very much!

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
This poem is just one of my many poetic attempts to capture the affections that fill me when I think those I love :) /the verb, 'cwtch' is a Welsh word used for the feeling of love felt in an affectionate embrace, I have modified it here to be a verb for my poem :)
