I Live In A World Of Inner Contradiction Poem by Shalom Freedman

I Live In A World Of Inner Contradiction

I live in a world of inner contradiction
I will never escape
I will die
Divided within myself
Praying and questioning
Hoping and doubting
In despair and resisting despair -

I cannot make myself simple and whole
And make my mind and feeling
Completely at peace -

I go on
Day by day
Divided within myself-

And who I am
Is this division and contradiction
Never to be whole and one.
