I'Ll Drink To Humanity Poem by Francis Duggan

I'Ll Drink To Humanity

Of any successes as such I do not have to tell
But I do not wish you harm though you may not wish me well
In the worst of people some good you will see
At least anyway that's how it seems to me
If you look for faults in another some faults you will find
Though a fault finder is never generous and kind
A good person does not condemn or begrudge
And a good person is never anyone's judge
I am not one who would pass the good person test
I fall short of such though I do try my best
To live a good life and by good example lead
And try to help one in his or her moment of need
The years creeping on me I am in my life's Fall
But I'll drink to humanity and a fair go for all.
