I Love You Everyday Poem by Tommy Foy

I Love You Everyday

I love you everyday, Mom
I hope you love me, too.
I love you everyday, Mom
I didn’t think you knew.

I love you even though
You didn’t seem to know
How to let me grow.

Should you discipline?
Or should you just give in?
Will you ever win?

I love you when you brush my hair
Or fix me ‘tater soup.
I love that little dance you do
People think you’ve flown the coop!

But oh, I know much better, Mom
I see it everyday.
I see it when I miss the bus,
Or even when I pray.
I see it when I make the team,
Or when hate’s the wrong thing to say.

What I see is love, Mom
I hope it stays that way.

I love you everyday, Mom
I think you love me, too.
I love you everyday, Mom
And now I think you knew.
