The Twilight Poem by Tommy Foy

The Twilight

I feel as if I am alone once again
In this dark, endless world,
with its cold stares and bottomless uncertainties.

I am on an imperative
journey through the night to find the Day,
For if He rises in the East we are not certain.

I travel aimlessly, through now barren forests
and then lonely blizzards of ice;
deprived of a guide to retrieve me from my wretched wander.

My sole fear is that I will not succeed in finding my day,
but rather dwell in the twilight
and sleep away my sunrise.

Although I travel alone,
and with meager possessions to name,
I swear that I will find the day once more,
And with it- the sunshine.
Oh, to feel sunshine warm my face once again-
Only a dream past now.

I will find you,
Dear Sunshine.
I will remember your Name.
