I Loved You Once Poem by Justin Mata

I Loved You Once

Rating: 5.0

I loved you once, or so I thought
But now it seems that I forgot
Just what love means and how love feels
Or what it is that makes love real

I loved you once, and it was bliss
We always laughed and hugged and kissed
Days were never long enough
And fights were never truly tough

I loved you once, and it was great
But those feelings began to dissipate
And then one day it occurred to me
What was once so clear is now hard to see

I loved you once, and so I tried
To show you love through the things I'd buy
But moments of joy always came and went
Regardless of how much money I spent

I loved you once, I was sure of it
And I promised I would never quit
Desperate to know how I could save
The future of life we'd made

I loved you once, and it was strong
How could it all have gone so wrong
Were we destined to fail at this from the start
Or two different people who just grew apart

I loved you once, or I wanted to
But now it seems I never knew
Just what love means and how love feels
Or what it is that makes love real
