I’m Istanbul Poem by Nilufer Dursun

I’m Istanbul

I’M ISTANBUL

I’m troubled, oh very troubled
Nobody listens to me and understands
I don’t want to carry so many people anymore
I’m tired, very tired…
If I’m able to speak
I’ll had a banner go to the assembly.
I’m Istanbul;
Sowhere that beautiful city which
Everybody is filled with admiration.
You used up, weared out polluted me…
I haven’t lost my beauty much,
Still number one…
As if I send you an invitataion
Giddap! Rush to Istanbul.
Who invited you for heaven’s sake?
Am I able to carry all of you?
Just let think impartially…
Do not come left over, I go crazy.
Why do you act this way and so?
What’s the disadvantage of your place, home town?
It looks like nobody considers, I talk to myself.
My soil has been golden, silver
Pay no attention, be busy with your own home.
For the sake of living in Istanbul.
Try to understand me a little,
I’ll come to an end otherwise…
