I'M Not A Literary Expert Poem by Francis Duggan

I'M Not A Literary Expert

I'm not a literary expert with degrees for to show
And what is good or bad poetry I wouldn't even know
The poets who only write of self to poesy are not true
And credit should be given to where credit it is due
So much mutual admiration in the Writers Clubs of today
That I will praise you since you praised me is seen as quite okay
But if truthful criticism can be cause for offence
Then not to be a member of a Writers Club perhaps make better sense
'Tis easy for to praise one but the truth's another thing
For the praises of the ordinary are not that hard to sing
But then suppose we all need recognition and we all wish to be liked and known
And everyone is different and to each their own
I'm not a literary critic nor for my opinion none does pay
And what's good or bad poetry is not for me to say.
