Forget me now as the days go by
I'm off to chase a butterfly
Something beautiful, to soothe my soul
To save my heart from growing cold
The night winds whisper a sad goodbye
To dry the woeful tears I've cried
The lonely nightingale sings bittersweet
To a soul that's lost and incomplete
The stars no longer light the skies
There hiding somewhere in your eyes
No longer recalled in reverie
Their beauty's forever lost to me
Forget me as you lay down to rest
But know for you, I tried my best
My fragile heart I gladly gave
The love I'll carry to the grave
Passionate dreams that warmed my nights
On battered wings that are lost in flight
They'll light no more upon these shores
Nor bring the love that I adore
The burning kiss, I need so much
The happy smile, the fiery touch
Will stay with me in memories
As treasures of love not meant to be
So forget me now as the days go by
I'm off to catch a butterfly…
