I Met The Stargazers Poem by SANJIT MANDAL

I Met The Stargazers

Remember!
The sunlight on the bank of the river
As we waited discussing
Death, life, eternity…
The sunlight was turning orange
Bringing paleness to our hearts
As we sat down
Some terrible minutes gone
Dead silence
As if a storm had just passed
Read some lines from Faulkner
Breaking the silence
Entered
The whirlpool of the busy life
People coming and going
They selfied on the bank
But we laughed in secret
Aesthetic souls found futile the technology
Nature and life only mattered
Freed from the pandemonium
Had some time to ruminate on
Why does darkness come?
To allow us to meet the stars
But things are not what we expect
Danger awaits everywhere
As one more year passes by
Like the water carrying memorable moments
But memories remain like the red rock
Fractured sometimes
As ages move on
Wonder if we will meet the same fate
Tsunamis will come
Washing everything away
But the rock should never be washed away
Time will take us away from one another
With its winged chariot
But we will hold on like a parasite
Sucking the blood out of the dead time
The blood will be the symbol of our love
Don't know how it all began
The stranger, baldy, aged, the other
Given some space and respect
In the busy cosmos
An alien planet, Utopia for him
Looking for love he found none
But friendship formed
Particles accumulated coming from different universe
Hesitation, shyness, otherness subsided like
Water on the seashore after a monstrous wave
Sands were crystal clear then
One could see one's face reflected
No bulwark between them
The China wall broken down
Family formed with the strangers
‘The star gazers'
They made the brown owl
‘Man' of the world
Imparted unconsciously the knowledge
To fly with the feeble wings
Touch the sky
Dance with the flying cloud
Kiss the Moon
Sing to the stars
An eternal song
Lauding the gift of the Almighty
For bestowing the best gifts he could have
Happiness was on his face
Excitement in his attitude
Love in his restless heart
To achieve the greatest things
Confidence and conviction
To drive the wheel on the thorny path
Their paths had already crossed
Scratches were in their hearts
But lotion was found in the friendship
Wounds cured and bandaged
But quakes shook the ground
The third hooded one was on the crack
Trying to mend the empty space
Created from the same star
Two pieces were flying away
The universe was ready
Laughed at their folly
Opened its arms to embrace
But his hands were clutching both the pieces
Ages passed standing on the same position
Patience and faith were his only tools
Had the belief that one piece can't stay alone
The gloomier one was lost in the dark forest
He was the torchlight to show the way back
But ocean water was covering her sight
No magic could break the damned spell
Roaming desperately in the lifeless desert
The eagle dropped a few drops of water
On the broken track
Consequence was the togetherness
To celebrate a special day
Jokes cracked, lines recited, promises made
Indebtedness showed
For building the broken bridge
No fear and hesitation now
They could connect both the sides
Some diamond cables added
The heavenly bridge was secure
Hail storms could do no harm
Not even the scorching sun
Apple shade was there now
Ripe apples to be plucked
To satiate their hunger
No one could show them fear
In a handful of dust now
That too thick net was already built
All hands held together
Stronger were they
But the eternal destroyer will tell
If the net remains strong or not
The hooded one stays behind
Universe emptied
Stars dispersed
The skeleton stands still
Networks built
Finds them busy in bill
Calculations done
Days counted
New Year approaches
Spends hours in contemplating
Advices put forward
Consolations hurled
Oaths taken
To write the coming days in golden script
And preserve in the museum of eternity
