My Angel Vanished Poem by SANJIT MANDAL

My Angel Vanished

Don't know where to begin
Don't know how to begin
Don't know what made me begin
But I must begin,
I was in no man's land
Although had mates around me
Didn't know how she came
Didn't know why she came
What made her come? !
The question is burning inside me
Trying to cross all the waves of thoughts
All confused I am…..
Found her in front of my digital world
Browsing God knows what
Came I from behind walking in the crowd
Had the vision of her milk white face
As rosy as Nobokov's Lolita
Innocent and mild as Beatrice of Dante,
"Oh my God"
Thought am I forgetting everything like Vladimir,
Didn't know how that happened
Didn't know why that happened
Didn't know what made it happen
But it happened in a sparks of moment
Took her in my arms and kissed her
Kissed her on the lips
Two heavenly lips! ! !
Four lips met together for the first time
And for the last time, sad to say
Those few seconds were like years
Hundreds or thousands years for me
If I could explain that in words!
Had I been able to picture in sentences!
Wish I had some angelic power!
Already the folks had gathered around
To disturb the hell out of those four lips
Wish I could escape like the Romantics
To an isolated place
There no one would have come
No one could have
No one would have the power
Power to conquer my world,
But no I was not that fortunate
Unfortunate enough for them
To see and laugh at
Embarrassed was she
As a red rose that shrink at someone's touch,
Asked her name I, but did she tell
Have forgotten while I am awake
But can remember all that happened afterwards,
My angel vanished like smoke in the air
The air might have sucked her in
As he must be jealous of me,
Saw her mates coming forward
Saw other boys looking at me as if
I was an alien……
Had to say sorry to them
Had to say sorry to Mom
God knows how she was there
What made her come there
Observing over me like a Goddess
Later I realised that
Anything could happen
In a world like that
Happenings could mix up
Mix up with one another,
That's what happened with me
While found myself going with mom
To meet my unnamed angel
And there on the way
Buildings changed
Changed the roads
As if there was some kind of magic
Magic that could transform anything
Into something else…..
Don't recall if we could meet her or not
Don't know how the way back started
But it did really start!
Saw muddy roads
Noticed barren lands
Envisioned dead bodies
Like logs lying in an African forest
No one but me had the picture
Wetting the lands with acid rains
Rains tearing apart the human flesh
As well as the animals
But the drops didn't fall upon us
As if we were from the past
A past when were all healthy enough
And the environment was too friendly
The clouds were to help the crops grow
Falling in the form of rain
The sun was smiling whenever he could
He kept his furnace burning
In a comfortable manner
People could go roam around the cities
But now the future…….
All gloomy as if dark shadows have
Washed away all the beautiful things
Even my dearest angel
Whom we could not find
Think I that could be the reason
A reason logically proved
It was all clear to me now
That we were not enough aware
That we were careless
That we were all selfish
That we were capitalists
That we were all vilains
