I Need A Hero (2007) Poem by Jodie Phillips

I Need A Hero (2007)

How fleeting the joy was
The pain creeps back in
As hard as I’m trying
I can’t seem to win

I start to feel happy
And wish he did too
But quickly I realize
There’s nothing to do

He may look forever
For someone to save
He may never find her
He may always crave

I need a white night
I need a hero
Where will I find one
I may never know

I thought he was it
Fiery steed and all
My personal savior
Should I ever fall

He will still need her
To complete his life
He cannot save me
Because I’m his wife
